Cámara Oscura

Camera Obscura Havana is located in one corner of the Plaza Vieja, on the top floor of the building Gomez Vila, former Ministry of Foreign Trade.

Inaugurated in April 2001 thanks to a grant from the Provincial Delegation of Cadiz, the camera shows visitors through a periscope to 38.6 m high reflected on a screen of 1.80 m in diameter, vivid images of environment in which the building is located, allowing a unique view of the architectural beauty of the oldest part of Havana.

With a lens manufactured by Siden Optical Company, based on an old model of Leonardo Da Vinci, the camera captures everything in those moments occurs at a distance of 5 km. It is one of 54 cameras of its kind in the world.
