Edificio Focsa
FOCSA building was opened in 1956 with the goal of building homes for the employees of the CMQ Radio and TV Network. Its opening shocked the Cuban population for its technological innovation and marked the era of high Havanan buildings. It consists of three main parts: the base, consisting of cafes, shops, theater, offices, radio and television studios and the famous restaurant El Emperador; then, there are 29 floors of apartments with a sea view and finally the popular restaurant La Torre on the 33rd floor.
With a total height of 121 meters above the street, being at the time the second tallest concrete building in the world, this property was selected in February 1997, by the Unión Nacional de Arquitectos e Ingenieros de la Construcción de Cuba (UNAICC)(National Union of Architects and Engineers) as one of the Seven Wonders of the Cuban Civil Engineering.
