"San Cristobal de la Habana" to "Havana" through five centuries of intense history that goes from pirate raids, legends of love, war stories, prosperity and glamor to a social revolution. We offer a tour where rum, snuff and coffee are just the trappings.
We started across the bay for the best view of the city from the Morro fortress defended the Villa de San Cristóbal of corsairs and pirates.
Returning along the route of the tunnel of Havana, one of the seven wonders of Cuban civil engineering we stop to start the walk through the historic center from the Plaza de la Catedral, the most consistent and best preserved urban complex of the city colonial. A few yards away, you can visit the famous bar La Bodeguita del Medio, bizarre and famous bohemian life space of the twentieth century.
We continue with a visit to the Plaza de Armas, also known as the Plaza of the old booksellers, with its beautiful baroque palaces.
Stop at the Hotel Ambos Mundos, where Hemingway came to stay in the 30s, to climb to the splendid terrace that offers one of the best views of Havana.
We follow Merchants Street, one of the main streets of the historic center and arrived at the Plaza de San Francisco de Asis, important trading center since the seventeenth century and which is one of the oldest churches in the city.
Across the street Teniente Rey, which houses the remains of the first aqueduct of Havana and the old water tank of a newly restored colonial house, ended at the Plaza Vieja, full of color and movement.
On Wall Street we went to the Avenida del Puerto to visit the Rum Museum, where you will learn the manufacturing process of Havana Club rum, with a tasting at the end of the tour. Price not included museum (7.00 CUC per person).
Leaving Old Havana classic car, sightseeing tour continues with a view of the Museum of the Revolution, Central Park and Capitol. Continue along Prado and Malecon, famous promenade of 8 km long connecting the old city with the modern city, the most interesting places to visit are the neighborhoods of Vedado and Miramar, the residential area of the Cuban capital frozen in old glamor of the 30s.
Visit the gardens of the National Hotel, owned by the American mafia between the 30s and the 50s (visit the Hall of Fame).
We continue with a panoramic tour of the modern part of the city which includes views of the University of Havana, Calle 23, the Coppelia (famous ice cream) and Avenue of the Presidents.
Stop at the Revolution Square, historic place in Havana where Fidel Castro delivered his long speeches and where the portrait of Che continues to draw attention of tourists and Cubans.
We continue our walk overlooking the Colon Cemetery and the Forest of Havana.
We arrived at Miramar, the chic neighborhood of Havana, with its beautiful mansions and Fifth Avenue, where enjoy a panoramic view. Stop at the Gandhi Park, also known as the Park Jagüeyes, awesome Indian garden in the center of town. Return along the Malecon. End of the visit.
